Level Three Vocabulary
So...how did they do it?
These sentences are tricky, but you will feel so accomplished afterwards!
They should NOT be about the story, or use any of the character’s names!
I really like this student’s sentences, as they made an overall connection to the theme of our reading unit at the time, and read as if they were teaching lessons about life. Our reading unit at the time was “Artists and Inventors” and the big theme question we had been asking ourselves the whole time was, “How do artists and inventors influence the world?”
The story these words came from was about Mahalia Jackson, a blues/gospel singer who made an incredible impact on many people, including Martin Luther King. She even stood by MLK’s side as he made his famous “I Have a Dream speach” and sang a song afterwords. You get the idea...she was a very positive and influential person.
So...this student’s sentences used vocab words which traditionally describe musical words, and she used them in a creative way which connected them to the themes of our reading story/unit. Aren’t they great?
Can you do it? Sure you can!
